Double Page Spread 1
The colours that have been used in this double page spread are white and black. The typeface of this double page spread is written in baby blue with black, which goes great with the white background of the page. This is a great technique which has been used as with the white background the colours used in the typeface really do stand out and catch the eye of the viewer. The image has also got a special affect to it as it is almost black and whit, this also goes great with the image as it gives a better look to the image and also makes the image have a older touch which can illustrate many things such as the hip hop artist being in the music industry for a long period of time.
Centre line/spine of the double page spread hip hop magazine. In this magazine double page spread the writing which is on the left hand page is being drawn into the sine of the page, this is not good as information’s is being sucked into the centre line/spine of the double page spread.
The image of “LL Cool J” is a mid shot, as this is used in order to show the subject as a strong and powerful character. “LL Cool J`s” body language also shows his power as he is crossing his arms and showing of his muscles. He also looks powerful as he is looking directly into the camera and not showing any fear.
The lighting in this double page spread is used on the subjects face and arms, as this shows his power and the fact that he is not showing any fear, by directly stearing back into the camera.
The layout of this double page spread is fairly unique as the colours and the layout out the double page spread really do make the double page spread stand out. On the left hand page there is where all the information and writing is stored. The page does look like it is overwritten on but with the single logo that is used on the right hand page of “LL Cool J” it balances out. With the amount of writing that is used in this double page spread it would be my understanding that this double page spread would be aimed at a target audience within the ages 16+, as I do not think that anyone younger would be intrigued with the amount of writing.
The image on the right hand page is used to illustrate the hip hop artist the magazine would include. As we can see the image used is of “LL Cool J”. This image is used to show viewers that the magazine would include a interview with “LL Cool J” and have a little autobiography on his hip hop career.
An interesting part of this double page spread hip hop magazine is quote used on the left page. The quote is written in big and bold font, in order to attract the eye of the viewer and give them a reason to read on in the magazine.
The house style in this hip hop double page spread is formed by the institutional logo which has been used on the bottom of the page. The image which has been used also shows a glimpse of the house style of this magazine which has been taken from the magazine “Source”.
